Six Years in the Making: New Chair Cushions

Hello and Happy Summer to YOU!! My cute Pickle is finally out of school – YAY!! I’m looking forward to warm days filled with sleeping in til 8 (fingers crossed!), swimming, snow cones, backyard camp outs, and fireflies. Let the fun in the sun begin!

Speaking of snow cones…and popsicles and slushie punch and ice cream…

And barbecued chicken and spaghetti and birthday cake…

Or cereal and milk and pancakes with syrup!!

It’s about time for my cute kidlets to stop using my once pretty chair cushions as napkins. It’s about time for me to NOT have to FREAK OUT each time they do. It’s about time for me to quit washing the “dry clean only” cushions in the washing machine.

It’s about time I FINALLY buy some new cushions that are washable, stain resistant, kid resistant, and (let’s be honest) a little more up to date.

I bought my cute chairs and cushions at Pier 1 about 6 years ago. And they’ve done well and served their purpose. (Besides being a pain in the bootay to clean.)

But, no offense little cushions…I am SO over you.

I’m ready for a little lighter and brighter – which I think I’ve found! The other day I was wandering the Home Depot, and I came across some SUPER CUTE indoor/outdoor furniture and accessories. The selection of chair cushions was impressive, and I began digging through them trying to find the print I liked best. (I liked the idea of using these cushions for our chairs because they can be wiped down easily AND laundered if needed. Win Win!)

And at 5 bucks a pop, it couldn’t get any better than that!

But I’m not gonna lie – when faced with more than one option, I have a difficult time choosing. I’m always the last one to order in a restaurant. When choosing between two cereals, I just end up mixing them. When asked which of my two sons is my favorite, I can’t decide. I just have to say, “Both!” See what I mean? ;)

So it should come as no surprise that I couldn’t decide between two of the chair cushions. I liked both prints for different reasons.

See how cute the green version is?!

I love it because it’s fun and happy and modern and scrolly all rolled into one.

And the colors go well with my home.

But then there’s this blue/red option, too.

I love it because it’s pretty and soft.

The blue goes with my TV dresser (which it will be near), and it incorporates the red I love.

But…do you think it’s a little boring? A little ho-hum?

And, if you’re wondering, “Beth, why don’t you just forego the cushions all together?”

This is why…

Ouchie on the patoot!

So, here’s where you come in, friend!! Please help me pick! I can’t decide on my own – I LITERALLY stood in Home Depot for 10 minutes trying to pick, and then I carried these two cushions around the store for another 30 minutes or so hoping it would come to me. Nope. I drug them both home crossing my fingers that you would help!

Here’s a little poll for you to cast your vote. I’ll leave it up for a few days and let you know the results. Thank so much – in advance – for helping an indecisive chick like me pick one already! For cryin’ in a bucket!

Thanks for your help! This poll is now closed.

  1. Okay, on their own I prefer the green/blue cushions…… but it sounds like the blue/red ones might work better with your other furniture. I kind of think that this is one of those situations where you have to try them both out. Maybe buy one more of each so you’ll have two, then put them on the chairs nearest the living room, then stand back and take it all in. Once you’ve decided which one works better you can just go back to HD and exchange two for two.

(Oh, then please post a more panoramic view of the room so we can take it all in. ;o)

  2. what if you just buy them both and switch them up a bit! but I am headed to home depot to buy the blue green ones! I am no help really because I like them both…..

  3. I really like the first ones best…they caught my eye right way! I just wish I had those colors in my house so I could use them!

  4. The blue/green is my fave. I also think they are more kid friendly for when slopped on.

  5. I like the first ones. They just caught my eye immediately. I wonder if they will camouflage the inevitable spills and stains better than the blue/red ones but with the stain resistance of the fabric that might not be an issue.?

  6. i really like the Green ones better. and red is my favorite color so thats saying a lot!. good luck choosing.
